# Introduction

ONyc is designed to function as a yield-bearing dollar asset within DeFi markets. It can be held, traded, and integrated across supported onchain venues while maintaining a close relationship to NAV through collateral management and liquidity controls.

ONyc is supported by a dedicated liquidity layer and treasury mechanisms that monitor secondary market conditions and respond to pricing or liquidity imbalances. These mechanisms are designed to support predictable behavior in environments such as lending markets, liquidity pools, leveraged strategies, and trading venues.

The onchain design allows users to interact with ONyc using standard DeFi primitives while retaining real-time visibility into supply, collateral composition, NAV, and system health through public dashboards and oracle-based reporting.
