# Collateral Composition

The collateral backing ONyc reflects exposure to regulated reinsurance programs and supporting reserve assets held within the underlying segregated accounts. Together, these positions are designed to generate stable, low volatility returns derived from real insurance performance and conservative collateral management.

OnRe manages collateral with three priorities:

* Capital preservation
* Stable, predictable returns
* Clear, transparent reporting

### Schedule of Assets

Capital is allocated across active reinsurance policies, upcoming underwriting opportunities, liquidity reserves, and supporting collateral assets. The portfolio is diversified across both fiat and onchain holdings, with exposure generally consisting of:

* Collateral deployed into active reinsurance contracts
* Capital reserved for upcoming underwriting opportunities
* Liquidity buffers maintained for redemptions and operational flexibility
* Fiat money market instruments and cash equivalents
* Regulated stablecoin yield strategies and onchain treasury positions

Collateral yield is intentionally conservative and designed to remain stable and predictable over time. Returns are primarily driven by reinsurance premium income, prevailing money market rates, and regulated stablecoin yield strategies supporting portfolio liquidity and reserve management.

### Underlying Assets

The collateral supporting ONyc is backed by a diversified mix of fiat and onchain reserve assets selected for liquidity, transparency, and capital preservation characteristics. These assets include short duration treasury exposure, regulated stablecoins, and institutional yield bearing reserve instruments used as part of broader collateral and liquidity management.

Underlying reserve assets currently include:

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.onre.finance/for-capital-providers/collateral-composition.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
